Eersterust Clinic - Management
A New Broom Sweeps Clean
For too long, the residents of Eersterust have voiced their frustrations about the poor service at our local clinic. But why does this problem persist?
It all starts with leadership—does that ring a bell?
We have a ward councilor, yet many residents are unaware that the councilor operates with the support of a ward committee. This committee is responsible for ensuring that the councilor fulfills their duties according to the mandate set out for them. Unfortunately, those entrusted with governing our community continue to fail us miserably.
The Issue at the Eersterust Clinic
The management style at the clinic remains unchanged because the leadership remains unchanged. Even if the current management has experience, fresh leadership would bring fresh ideas and new processes—essential for improvement.
Population Control and Service Allocation
Have you heard of population control in service delivery? The government has put structures in place to ensure that people seek services at the nearest available facilities. This is not about exclusion or discrimination but about efficient service distribution.
For example, the nearest hospital to Eersterust is Dag Hospital. If the clinic needs to refer patients, it must send them there rather than to Steve Biko Hospital. Similarly, residents of Mamelodi and East Lynne should be utilizing their respective clinics whenever possible. This does not mean they are unwelcome at Eersterust Clinic, but rather that preference should be given to local residents to ensure they receive the best possible service. If Eersterust Clinic offers a specialized service unavailable elsewhere, exceptions can be made.
A Call for Change
In conclusion, I am simply advocating for better control and management to improve service delivery for the local community. Some residents may disagree, but this is a logical and calculated position.
This is just one of many important issues that the Eersterust community should discuss in our online forum. Let’s come together and find solutions for a better future.
